Gilliam Wins First Place in AAG Student Paper Competition

Master’s student Shea Gilliam has won first place in the AAG Sexuality and Space Specialty Group Student Paper Competition. The committee commended her on writing “such a well-written, personal, and creative paper”. The paper is based upon Shea’s MA work and is titled, “The Radical Adventures of a Trans Girl in Cis-land: an Autoethnographic Account of Unplanned Activism in the Roller Derby Subculture.” The paper is currently under review at Emotion, Space and Society.

Shea has accepted an excellent PhD position at the University of Southern California (USC) for Fall 2018. Congratulations on all of your successes Shea!
