The 2009 APCG conference will take place at the Town and Country Resort & Convention Center, centrally located in San Diego's Mission Valley. We have blocked a number of rooms at the hotel and we have a direct link to make reservations using this exclusive page:

Hotel Picture

We have negotiated reasonable room rates for conference participants. For example, participants can take advantage of a rate of $142 for a quad room (four occupants). This is about $36 per person (+tax), a good deal given that participants can stay where all the conference events occur. This is a good arrangement for students attending the conference--or for anyone else on a budget.

Single and Double rooms are also $142. In fact, all rooms are $142 (though there is an extra charge for a rollaway bed if more than 4 people are sharing the same room; check with the hotel for the cost).

Please make your reservation no later than September 9, 2009 to ensure your conference rate. Any requests after that day are placed on a space available basis. If you prefer to call the hotel directly instead of using the web-reservation function, mention that you are with the Association of Pacific Coast Geographers to receive the group rate.

All APCG events will take place on the east side of the resort, near the Regency Tower, the Regency and Garden Ballrooms, and Charlie's Sport Bar and Grill . Click here for a map of the hotel and convention facilities.

FAQ:

Why should I stay at the conference hotel?

-It is one of the nicer hotels in the area, surrounded by lush tropical gardens, great outdoor areas, and several restaurants, cafes and bars on the premises. The resort is easily accessible (there is a trolley station right by the hotel, and it is just off the I8 highway). The hotel is also connected to Fashion Valley mall, a premier shopping destination in San Diego.

- We have negotiated a very good rate for conference participants. If you share a room with other people, you can get your costs down to about $36 per person (+tax)

-You will be right where the action is! Walk to your room from the conference venues, and don't miss out on any of the events that we have planned for the conference.

-You will also be helping to make the 2009 APCG meeting a success: staying at the conference hotel means that the we can save a bit of money on our costs for using the convention center facilities. This means that we will have more resources to offer participants a better value in terms of student subsidies, awards, events, food, entertainment and so on.

Does the $142 rate apply to stays prior or after the conference?

-Yes. We have negotiated this rate for several days before and after the conference activities for participants who want to make the most out of their stay in San Diego.

What about parking?

-There is a $10 fee per day for hotel guests.

-There is a $2 fee per hour (not to exceed $10 per day) for local guests driving and parking at the hotel.

-There is some limited street parking in the vicinity of the hotel and there is parking behind the hotel for the Fashion Valley Mall. This parking is free, but you could be getting a parking ticket if you stay too long since it is designated for mall guests. There is NO OVERNIGHT PARKING allowed at the mall, so we strongly advice that you don't try that!
