Head, Geospatial Information Sciences

The University of Texas at Dallas seeks a distinguished geospatial

scientist to head its program, consequent to the retirement of the

current director. Candidates need a Ph.D. degree, a distinguished record

of teaching, research and public service, and demonstrated potential to

lead a new program to national and international eminence. This is an

exceptional opportunity for an individual energized by a unique

multi-disciplinary environment.

The Ph.D. program in Geospatial Information Sciences, which commenced in

Fall 2005, is offered jointly by the School of Economic, Political and

Policy Sciences, the Department Geosciences in the School of Natural

Sciences and Mathematics, and the Department of Computer Science in the

Eric Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science. A joint Master

of Science in Geographical Information Sciences, Graduate Certificates

in Geographic Information Systems and Remote Sensing, and a Bachelor of

Arts in Geography with GIS emphasis are also offered. The university is

located in the suburbs of north Dallas amid one of the largest and most

vibrant high-technology concentrations in the nation. For more
