- Click on the Digital Download (*.gz) file. If the file opens up in the browser rather than prompting you to save the file, go to the File menu in your browser and select "Save As".
- Browse to the directory where you'd like to save the file. Save as type: Text File (*.txt) and name the file whatever you'd like. Name it with a .e00 extension (i.e. coast.e00).
Once the ArcInfo interchange file is downloaded, use the proper import tool, utility, or command to bring the data set into your GIS.
ArcView 3.x - Import71 Utility
ArcGIS 8.x/9.x - Import to Coverage in the ArcToolBox Conversion Tools folder
GRASS 6.x - v.in.e00 command
